Vitamin B1

Also known as thiamine, plays an important role in maintaining neurological health. As early as the 1930s, researchers discovered a connection between a deficiency in thiamine and severe memory problems. In cases of severe thiamine deficiency, it can lead to the development of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, a condition that results in brain degeneration. Thiamine supplementation has not been shown to completely reverse the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders, but it may help improve working memory and executive function in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Vitamin B7

Recent studies have suggested a connection between biotin (vitamin B7), the energy-producing structures in cells known as mitochondria, and dementia. A review from 2021 suggests that supplementing with biotin may be beneficial for people with dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. [Ref]

Vitamin B12

Studies have shown that these micronutrients are necessary for building and maintaining brain structures and connections, both during development and as we age. Taking vitamin B12 supplements can also boost energy levels, improve exercise endurance and reduce feelings of fatigue.

Bacopa Monnieri Extract

Bacopa monnieri, also known as Brahmi, is an herbal supplement that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine for its benefits on memory and cognitive function. Several studies have shown the cognitive benefits of Bacopa monnieri.

A 2016 six-week, randomized, placebo-controlled study on Bacopa monnieri supplementation in medical students found that the subjects taking 300mg daily of BM had an improvement in their ability to acquire, retain, and retrieve learned information.

A 2021 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of subjects over 55 years old found that those who took 320mg of BM daily over 12 weeks had faster memory retrieval than those who took a placebo, although the results varied.

L-Tyrosine

Tyrosine is an amino acid that serves as a building block for the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine. Studies have shown that taking tyrosine supplements can improve mental performance and mood in healthy individuals who are under stress or cognitive demands.

Cat’s claw

Cat’s claw is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory vine that originates from the Amazon rainforest. Recent studies have shown that taking cat’s claw supplements may prevent the formation of plaque in the brain, leading to improved memory and cognitive function in older adults.

A review of clinical trials conducted in 2021 confirms the effectiveness of cat’s claw supplements in reducing brain plaque in both humans and animals.

Oat Straw Extract

Oat straw is another nootropic compound that can improve cognitive performance, memory, and stress response in humans when taken at doses of 800mg and 1,600mg daily. Even though Noocube contains a much lower dosage, a 2017 trial found that the most effective dose is at or below 800mg.

L-theanine

Alpha GPC

Research studies conducted before the start of human trials have indicated that Alpha GPC may increase the levels of acetylcholine in the brain, thereby enhancing cognition and memory in patients with dementia.

A 2003 double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of people with mild to moderate dementia found that those who took 400mg of Alpha GPC three times daily experienced cognitive improvements, while those in the placebo group did not show any changes or even experienced a decline after 90 days.

Lutemax 2020

Lutemax 2020 is a mixture of two carotenoids called lutein and zeaxanthin that are found in marigold flowers. It has undergone several clinical trials to determine its effectiveness in supporting cognitive and vision health, as well as in improving mood and sleep. Studies have shown that it could be beneficial for these outcomes.

Huperzia Serrata

Huperzia serrata is a plant that has been traditionally used in Eastern medicine to treat cognitive disorders, including dementia, cognitive dysfunction, and schizophrenia.

In 2021, a study shows that it had neuroprotective properties, protecting against brain damage caused by lack of oxygen and glucose and reducing the toxicity caused by free radicals. Resveratrol
